4 Things Nurses Can Do to Make Halloween Spooktacular for Patients

There are a lot of things that you can do on Halloween in order to make it special for your patients, yourself and your colleagues.

1. Have a Pumpkin Carving Contest

Having a pumpkin carving contest (or even just decorating your workspace) is a great way for you to show off a little bit of your personality and it's a great opportunity for you to do a fun project with everyone working that day. If you need some inspiration, check out a few pumpkins that a few of the nurses in the Show me your Stethoscope Facebook group showed us.

2. Dress up in a fun costume

This one kind of goes without saying but we’re going to bring it up anyway…Dress up for Halloween! And no, we don’t mean come in costume as a sexy or scary nurse (talk about originality). Try to think a bit out of the box with this one. Here are a few ideas:

3. Make Some Halloween Treats

You don't have to be a mad scientist to cook up some adorable Halloween treats. From Halloween Macarons, spider cupcakes, caramel candy apples...now is the perfect time to update that regular brownie or cookie recipe to make it extra ghoulish.

4. Play Some Spooky Games

Anyone up for a game of Monster Bean Bag Toss? How about Silly Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin? Remember, Halloween is a time to use your imagination and to show your patients that being in the hospital doesn't have to be a scary experience. Use this occasion to fun games that will help you to bond with your patients and make everyone smile.
