According to [McCrory et al.,](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3372677/#R180), *concussion is defined as a complex pathophysiological process affecting the brain, induced by traumatic biomechanical forces.* It has become a prominent issue in medicine and is increasingly recognized as a major public health issue that contributes to significant morbidity, permanent disability and mortality.
