What Are West Virginia's Nursing CE Requirements?
Many states in the U.S. require a certain number of contact hours for license renewal. As a RN in West Virginia, you are required to complete 12 CE hours every year. 2 CE hours must be in Mental Health Conditions Common to Veterans and their families and. If you are authorized to prescribe, dispense, and/or administer controlled substances, you must initially complete 3 CE hours of drug diversion training and best practice prescribing. After the first three-hour course, you only have to complete one hour of CE in drug diversion training and best practice prescribing annually.
As a LPN in West Virginia, you are required to complete 24 CE hours every year. 2 CE hours must be in Mental Health Conditions Common to Veterans and their families. You must also complete a one-time requirement of 2 CE hours related to end-of-life care including pain management. You must also complete 3 CE hours in Substance Abuse.
If you are a NP in West Virginia, you are required to complete 24 CE hours every two years. 12 CE hours must be in pharmacology and 12 hours must be in clinical management.
